Replica Wistful Happy Teddy Bear 1926 (46 cm)

Nicknamed ‘Wistful Happy’ this bear is a replica of a top seller at the ‘Steiff Sommer Auktion’ in 2012. The original bear was once made of tipped mohair, but this effect faded over time. The airbrush artisans at Steiff recreated this original effect of tipping by painting in the ears, at the neck, and in the seam areas. In fact the whole bear is painted to achieve an antique effect, with special attention paid to the area under the eyes, which gives the bear its ‘wistful’ expression. The bear is fully jointed and features large dark brown glass pupil eyes and has a loosely jointed head. His nose and mouth have been hand embroidered with a light brown thread. Finally he is wood stuffed just as the original bear of 1926 and if you squeaze his tummy you will hear a little squeak. As befitting a true replica of the period it has an underscored button in the ear. A must for the serious collector. Limited edition of just 1,000 pieces worldwide.
